Lakhta Center Europe's Tallest Building in 2018
Lakhta Center (Russian: Ла́хта це́нтр) is a large mixed-use non-residential construction project in Saint Petersburg, in Russia, designed by British architect Tony Kettle and detailed by Russian design company Gorproject. When the project was still planned for its original site at Okhta closer to the historical centre of St. Petersburg, it was first called Gazprom City (Russian: Газпро́м си́ти) and later Okhta Center (Russian: О́хта це́нтр). In 2010 the project was suspended at its Okhta site due to official objections of UNESCO World Heritage Committee, and in the beginning of 2011 it was relocated to Lakhta area in the outskirts (9 km from historical centre)
