Rochester General Hospital has completed its first implant of a new device in a human heart. The left ventricular assist device (LVAD) in the heart is an implant that is placed in a patient's heart through a non-invasive procedure. The LVAD helps to move more oxygen-rich blood through the body and reduce heart stress. The device allows patients to live just as they would with a new heart.
